Finch targets T20 World Cup return after successful knee surgery

Australian white-ball captain Aaron Finch has undergone successful knee surgery and aiming to return for the T20 World Cup, confirmed by officials on Friday.
Finch missed the recent Bangladesh tour having suffered cartilage damage ahead of the series in West Indies. He managed to play the five T20Is in the Caribbean but aggravated the injury in the final game.
On Thursday, of his first day out of a mandated 14-day hotel quarantine after returning from Barbados, he underwent surgery. Cricket Australia reported that the cartilage surgery went successfully.
"His recovery is expected to take 8-10 weeks meaning he should be available for the opening games of the World Cup in mid-October," the statement added.
The T20 World Cup is set to begin in the United Arab Emirates and Oman in October, earlier it was shifted from India because of the corona pandemic.
Australia's performance has not been satisfactory as they have lost eight of their last ten T20 matches against in the recent tours of West Indies and Bangladesh.
The Aussies have never won the T20 World Cup with their best performance being a runners-up finish in 2010 when they lost the final against England in Barbados.
