Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has pulled out of the inaugural edition of The Hundred. Shane Warne, head coach of the franchise, confirmed Maxwell’s withdrawal and also announced Josh Inglish as a replacement.
The wicketkeeper-batsman who is currently playing for Leicestershire has recently scored 103 not out for the county.

“Unfortunately Glenn Maxwell has pulled out of The Hundred. We were really excited to get him in the draft. We know he’s a match-winner and we were excited to have him. Unfortunately he’s pulled out of that and we’ve now replaced him with Josh Inglis from Western Australia, so we are lucky to have him,” said Warner said on Fox Cricket.
Maxwell, David Warner and Marcus Stoinis were the other Australians to have pulled out of The Hundred. Meanwhile, Maxwell, alongside seven other players, had also pulled out from Australia’s upcoming tour of the West Indies and Bangladesh stating different reasons.
With Covid-19 and quarantine affecting travel plans, the ECB is expected to look for replacements among players already in the UK, with teams from New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and South Africa all visiting England or Ireland.
