Rangpur Riders set to strengthen squad with big stars

Australia David Warner and Marcus Stoinis have pulled out of the inaugural edition of The Hundred. The duo has been named in the preliminary squad for the tour of the West Indies and Bangladesh which clashes with The Hundred's July-August window.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Warner and Stoinis have withdrawn to spend time with their families amid the pandemic. Back in March 2020, Warner had pulled out of The Hundred, citing “family and personal reasons”, but was re-signed in February’s draft as a first-round pick.

"It is obviously disappointing to lose players with the ability of David and Marcus, but the realities of COVID means there are practicalities that are difficult for some overseas players to overcome," the ECB said in a statement.

"Replacement overseas players will be signed by Southern Brave, and we look forward to The Hundred showcasing world-class cricket this summer."
Warner signed a contract worth £100,000 with Southern Brave for The Hundred, while Stoinis put pen to paper in a deal worth £80,000.
The competition, which was postponed last year due to the pandemic, will begin on July 21 with a women's match between Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals before the men's competition starts a day later.
