The Bangladesh national team flew out for the United Arab Emirates on Sunday (September 9), leaving two of their squad members, Tamim Iqbal and Rubel Hossain, back in the country as they failed to obtain their visas to the UAE. Although Rubel got his visa today (September 11), Tamim is yet to get a positive response.
Team manager Khaled Mahmud and chief selector Minhajul Abedin, too, did not get their respective visas; hence, they could not join the team as well.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive, Nizamuddin Chowdhury, informed that they are doing everything in their power to resolve this matter.
He said: “The matter is completely related to a different country. If it were related to our country, we could have talked to our government. The visa authority is the UAE embassy and the event-authority is the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). We are communicating with them regularly. Every country has its own process when it comes to granting visas and we don’t have much to do in this regard.
“India is hosting the event. We are also contacting those [from India], who are in charge. They, and the ACC, are trying to collect the visas [for the squad members] as soon as possible.”
Bangladesh will play their first match against Sri Lanka on Saturday (September 15), in Dubai. They will take on Afghanistan in their last group match on September 20, in Abu Dhabi.
