ACC executive meeting to be held in Dhaka despite uncertainty over India's participation

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) executive committee meeting is scheduled to be held in Dhaka on July 24, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) making all necessary preparations to host the important event. This meeting is expected to finalize the schedule for the 2026 Asia Cup.

BCB’s media committee chairman Iftekhar Ahmed Mithu confirmed on Saturday afternoon that the executive meeting will take place at the InterContinental Hotel in Dhaka.

“We are making all arrangements to host the ACC Executive Committee meeting in Dhaka. We hope all member countries will be present,” he stated.


However, the physical attendance of a representative from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) remains uncertain.


“It’s still not confirmed whether a representative from the Indian board will attend the meeting. That depends on their board and political decisions. We are hopeful, though. Even if they don’t attend in person, arrangements have been made for virtual participation,” Mithu added.

Interestingly, the ACC meeting will coincide with the Bangladesh vs. Pakistan three-match T20I series in Dhaka. The Pakistan team is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on July 16 in two separate flights, while the Bangladesh team will return from their Sri Lanka tour on July 17.

ACC and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi is also expected to visit Dhaka to attend the ACC meeting and watch the T20I series.


Although India holds the hosting rights for the 2026 Asia Cup, a venue has not yet been finalized. A final decision regarding the host venue and schedule could be announced during this meeting.


However, India's participation in the tournament remains uncertain due to ongoing political tensions with Pakistan.
