The Asia Cup, however, didn’t begin well for the left-handed opener. He managed only 14 runs off 18 balls against Hong Kong China and a duck against Sri Lanka.
But against Afghanistan, he returned to form, striking his seventh career T20I fifty. With this innings, Tanzid moved up four places to reach 35th spot, currently the highest-ranked Bangladeshi batter.
Jaker Ali also climbed the rankings. After remaining unbeaten on zero against Hong Kong, he impressed with a match-saving 41* against Sri Lanka when Bangladesh were reeling at 53 for 5.
Alongside Shamim Hossain Patwary, he shared an unbeaten 86-run stand. He then added 12* off 13 balls versus Afghanistan. These consistent contributions helped Jaker rise three spots to joint-57th with Sahibzada Farhan and Richie Berrington.
On the flip side, Litton Das and Parvez Hossain Emon slipped in the rankings.
Skipper Litton, who scored 59 against Hong Kong followed by 28 against Sri Lanka and 9 against Afghanistan, dropped one place to 42nd. Emon, meanwhile, scored 19 against Hong Kong but fell for a duck against Sri Lanka and was dropped from the XI in the last match. As a result, he slid eight places down to 75th.
