New Mumbai recruit Mustafizur Rahman spoke to the official website of the franchise to share a bit about his journey in the international circuit. The left-handed pacer took the world by storm with his unbelievable slower ones and cutters when first broke into the scene.

When asked about how he managed to make top batsmen taste sand at the beginning of his career, he stated that being an unknown entity helped him gain an unpredictability factor and use it to his advantage.

“In the beginning, not too many people knew about me. So, it was difficult for batsmen to read me. Nowadays if I bowl today, tomorrow everyone has video footage to study and decode what I am doing. In the beginning of my international career, I was relatively unknown. It worked in my favour.”

The talented youngster has been in the Mumbai for a week and has revealed that the environment of his new employers is a very friendly one and that he uses it as an opportunity to improve his game.

“Whoever I have spoken to has been very helpful. They are always ready to help and improve your game. I am keen to learn and finetune my game. I openly talk to them about the problems I face, and I ask them what I could do to improve on these areas. There are a lot of players of my age. And there are a lot of seniors. All in all, it’s been a good experience so far.”

Finally, ever since the “Fizz” has arrived in Mumbai, the Bangladeshi fans have gone into a frenzy and are supporting Mumbai Indians just for the talented pacer. His message, however, for the fans is to not support only him but also the Mumbai Indians team.

“People love me because they see what I do every day. I will work hard and try to make them happier and would hope that they love me even more. Now I have come to play for Mumbai Indians and I would want them to all come together and support the team. Not just Mustafizur but support the entire team. That is what I hope for.”

Mumbai Indians will begin their title defence on the 7th of April in the IPL opener against two-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings led by M.S. Dhoni.
