Bangladesh broke their seven-match losing streak in ODIs with a 16-run victory over Sri Lanka in Colombo on Saturday, a result that also helped them reclaim the ninth spot in the ICC ODI rankings.

The win lifted Bangladesh to 78 rating points, pushing them above West Indies, who now sit tenth with 77 points.

Earlier in May, Bangladesh had dropped to 10th in the rankings for the first time in nearly 18 years, following a series of disappointing performances in the 50-over format.
Their losing run began in November last year with a defeat to Afghanistan in the final ODI of a three-match series in Sharjah.

The slump continued as they suffered a 3-0 whitewash against the West Indies in December, followed by defeats to India and New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Their seventh consecutive loss came earlier this week in the series opener against Sri Lanka.
