The Tigers returned home today after clinching their first-ever T20I series victory on Sri Lankan soil. With a focus on maintaining squad stability ahead of major tournaments like the Asia Cup, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to stick with the same group of players that featured in the Sri Lanka series.
Despite underwhelming performances, backup opener Mohammad Naim Sheikh and all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin have retained their places. Both were included in the squad during the Sri Lanka series and continue to enjoy the team management’s trust as part of a long-term plan.
However, Nurul Hasan Sohan has once again been overlooked. His exclusion comes amid growing speculation over a potential return, especially following his impressive performances as captain in domestic competitions and the ongoing Global Super League, where he has led the Rangpur Riders to back-to-back finals.
For now, selectors have opted against recalling the experienced wicketkeeper-batter.
Also missing from the squad are top-order batter Soumya Sarkar and regular Test and ODI skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was not included in the Sri Lanka T20I squad and remains absent from the Pakistan series lineup.
The three T20Is against Pakistan are scheduled for July 20, 22, and 24, all to be played in Mirpur.
