The all-rounder had signed a deal with Kolkata Knight Riders to play in the IPL this year, but he later withdrew because the BCB would not grant him permission to miss the upcoming away ODI series against Ireland in England.
He occasionally showed reluctance to attack with the ball, and it appeared that his absence from the IPL this season was the reason.
The all-rounder however said that he was not disappointed for IPL exit as he had some ‘family emergency’.
"No. Obviously it was a good opportunity since it's a World Cup year. But family emergency is family emergency." Shakib said in the post match press conference after beating Ireland by seven wickets in lone Test.
Nazmul Hasan, the president of the board, had previously stated numerous times that the board would not permit players to participate in franchise leagues while on international duty.
Shakib's absence during the latter stages of the franchise tournament presented a problem for Kolkata because they desired a player who would be available for the entire series.
The franchise signed England star Jason Roy to replace Shakib.
Shakib withdrew from the franchise tournament, but Litton Das is anticipated to leave soon to play for Kolkata.
Meanwhile, the Tiger captain claimed that he is not required to bowl if he has a wide range of options available.
Shakib was questioned about why he didn't bowl much in the lone Test against Ireland, which Bangladesh won in Mirpur today by a score of 7 wickets.
"No, I don't have any explanation [for not bowling more overs]. It's not necessary that one should have to bowl when you have five-six different weapons in your armoury. So, there's no need to use all the options every time," said Shakib.
Shakib said that he had faith in his bowlers to pick 20 wickets in a Test match.
"We have enough bowlers to pick 20 wickets and I have full faith in them. They have shown that especially in the type of pitch we don't play often. It was a very good batting wicket in the first three days. Normally we don't see a good batting surface in Mirpur in the first three days. It was a good track for batting on the fourth day as well," Shakib added.
