Shakib Al Hasan delivered with bat and ball as the Tigers beat England to earn a consolation win. After top scoring with the bat to score 75 runs and help Bangladesh post 246, he returned with the ball to finish with figures of four for 35.

Captain Tamim Iqbal came to the post-match press conference after beating the World Champions and he showered his teammate with praise.

“He [Shakib] played amazingly today. The way he batted with the lower order batsmen, those runs were very important for us. There was not much help on the wicket while bowling. The ball was not spinning, still he bowled like that,” said the ODI captain.

Shakib's performance also inspires his teammates as Tamim said, “Taijul also did well after seeing Shakib's bowling. At first he did not understand what to do here. Later, Taijul also did well,”

Shakib, who became the first Bangladesh bowler to reach the milestone of 300 ODI wickets today and gave a match winning performance, these kind of things are regular for him, according to Tamim.

“He is very strong mentally. He has done such a performance before. It’s not new. And having a cricketer like him is a blessing for any team. His skill set is different, you won't find many cricketers who can bowl 10 overs and also bat,” he added.

There were confusion about whether Shakib will move to the number three position where he scored plenty of runs in the 2019 World Cup but Tamim confirmed it will not be happening any time soon as Shakib will bat in the middle order in the upcoming matches.

"His batting order will be four or five, that is fixed,"

Player of the match Shakib said Bangladesh could also take some optimism of the way they performed in the three-match series.
