The decision came after a drone attack hit a building on the adjacent Food Street near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Although the PCB confirmed the postponement in a statement, no information has been given about a rescheduled date or venue for the match.

This development marks a deepening impact of the ongoing military tensions between India and Pakistan on cricket.
In India, the May 11 IPL fixture between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, originally scheduled to be held in Dharamshala, has now been shifted to a different venue as a precautionary measure, though the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) remains committed to continuing the tournament.

The situation is similarly tense in Pakistan. Just days after a missile attack, Indian forces reportedly carried out a drone strike on May 8, targeting a building near the stadium in Rawalpindi, as reported by local Pakistani media.

This prompted the cancellation of Thursday’s match, and it's now likely that more matches scheduled in Rawalpindi may also be suspended.
Peshawar Zalmi, the team of Bangladeshi pacer Nahid Rana, was due to play another match on May 9 against Rishad Hossain’s Lahore Qalandars at the same venue. While the PCB remains hopeful of completing the tournament, concerns among foreign players have risen sharply.
According to sources, several overseas players and coaching staff currently in Pakistan have requested to leave the tournament and return home. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has personally reached out to reassure the players and staff, though many remain uneasy due to the growing regional instability.
