Ireland will play Bangladesh in their final Super League matchup in May at a location in England to increase their chances of making the World Cup.

Ireland's Super League playoff chances will depend on how South Africa and Sri Lanka perform against the Netherlands and New Zealand, respectively.

But if Ireland defeats Bangladesh 3-0, they will likely secure the eighth spot and a spot in the 2023 World Cup in India without having to compete in the qualifier in Zimbabwe in June or July, unless Sri Lanka wins 3-0 in New Zealand in March.

Ireland's hopes received a significant boost after South Africa was penalized one point for a slow overrate against England.

The teams will finish level on points and be separated by net run rate if South Africa defeats the Netherlands 2-0 and Ireland defeats Bangladesh 3-0. Previously, the same results would have seen South Africa finish one point ahead of Ireland.

Cricket Ireland have been in talks with the ECB over recent months about playing the series at a county venue in the second week of May.

Josh Little of Ireland and Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das, and Mustafizur Rahman of Bangladesh are both IPL participants, but all four are anticipated to participate in the Super League series in May.
