Sylhet Sixers batter Zakir Hasan stated that he was well-supported by his teammates and seniors during his international debut against India series and in the ongoing BPL.
The young batter was mesmerized and praised veteran Mushfiqur Rahim for giving him the opportunity to bat at number four ahead of him in Sylhet.
"I think it's a huge honour as Mushfiqur Rahim Bhai left his batting position and allowed me to bat at number four. I am lost for words, to be honest. He did the same previously when I played for Rajshahi. He is always flexible and allowed me and Towhid Hridoy to play freely," he said.
The wicket-keeper revealed that Mashrafe Mortaza gave Zakir freedom, which allowed him to express himself on the field. He also stated that Shakib Al Hasan supported him during the India tour which boosted his confidence.
Zakir smashed a hundred on his Test debut against India last year. Followed that, he scored a fifty on the next Test.
"Overall the confidence was already there but the self-belief grew once I went through that phase [of facing the Indian bowlers during the two Tests," he added.
