Prior to Wednesday's encounter against Legends of Rupganj, the Prime Bank opener Anamul Haque Bijoy was only 10 runs away from breaking Saif Hassan's (814 runs) record for most runs in a single DPL season after the competition was upgraded to List A status in 2013-14.

Bijoy now has 878 runs in the tournament, with two hundreds and seven fifties from 12 innings, after a 73-run innings in the rain-affected 33-over encounter.

Bijoy has started the tournament with a fifty followed by he hit his first century of the competition. Bijoy fell just 16 runs short of a double century against Shinepukur Cricket Club. He hasn't failed to make a big score with the bat thus far in the competition.

He still has three matches remaining to play, and he has a good chance of breaking the 1000-run barrier.

Saif held the previous record, scoring 814 runs for Prime Doleshwar in the 2018-19 season.
