As part of preparations for this year's World Cup in Australia, Ireland will play India in a T20 international this summer.

Since June 2018, Ireland has not faced India in any capacity. In Malahide, India dominated the two-match series, winning by 76 and 143 runs respectively.

Ireland qualified for the T20 World Cup with a 56-run triumph against hosts Oman in the Qualifier semi-final on Tuesday.

Ireland will face the UAE in the Qualifier final in Muscat on Thursday after securing their seventh consecutive World Cup appearance. The United Arab Emirates has also qualified for the World Cup.

Meanwhile, India will go to England in July for the rescheduled fifth Test of the 2021 series, which was initially slated to take place at Old Trafford in September 2021 but was postponed due to Covid-19 cases involving India's backroom staff. Between July 7 and 17, a T20 and ODI series will be played.
