Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan was criticized for skipping the recent Test series against New Zealand. It's also been reported that Shakib doesn't want to play in the longest format. However, Khaled Mahmood Sujan backed Shakib and said he never claimed he didn't want to play.

Since Shakib's family members live in the United States, playing in all formats has become difficult for him. After returning from the ban, Shakib appeared in only three of the eight Tests matches in 2021.

Shakib has to play more matches than any other Bangladeshi cricketer. As a result, the all-rounder was concerned about coping with bio-bubble. Sujan asserted that Shakib could be rested in series that do not have any points (World Test Championship), (ODI Super League Points).

"The issue with Shakib is that he plays the most cricket than any other cricketer in our country.  He is the one who had to go through the Bio-safety zone the most. Of course, we all want Shakib to play in all three forms. "It won't be a problem if we talk to him about it and make him play the important tours and give him a rest in those series with no Test championship points or ODI points," Sujon said.

"However, playing key matches is important for us. That is why we must sit with Shakib. He never said he will not play (Test). He might have missed a couple series or matches. I believe there is a gap in our communication," he added.
