Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan backed the national side, and said they want to move ahead in the next year after this year's setback.
International Cricket resumed amid the pandemic in 2021, throughout this year Bangladesh played only 7 Tests where they have won just one that too came against Zimbabwe and secured a draw in one against Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh won 8 out of 12 ODIs played this year. Although most of the victories were at home. Tigers also won the series against Australia and New Zealand at home in the T20. However, they were completely different in the T20 World Cup which was held in Oman and UAE.
Shakib was disappointed with the overall performance of the team throughout the years. However, he believes the Tigers can rebound from the failures.
“Of course, it’s really disappointing, since we set a big goal for the World Cup but we couldn't live up to expectations, that's frustrating. This happened before, however, we have been able to turn around very well. So hopefully in the new year we can come back better and improve ourselves,” said Shakib.
“Improvements are needed in every place. You need to bring improvement even when you play well also when you perform badly. Areas, where improvement is needed, should be identified. So that we can improve in those places,” he added.
