Bangladesh finish their WC preparation with big defeat

Bangladesh lost their second warm-up game against Ireland by 33 runs at Sheikh Zayed Stadium Nursery 2, Abu Dhabi on Thursday.


Chasing a huge target, Bangladesh managed to score 144 runs losing all wickets in the allotted 20 overs.


Bangladesh's top-order stumble down as they lost three batters within the first three overs, Naim Sheikh (3), Liton Das (1) and Mushfiqur Rahim (4).


Then Afif Hossain played brief innings of 17 runs while Soumya Sarkar scored an important 37 to put some resistance over the Ireland bowlers.


The highest scorer Nurul Hasan Sohan scored 38 off 24 balls hitting six boundaries.

Mark Adair scalped three wickets while Craig Young, Joshua Little took couple of wickets for Ireland.


Gareth Delany's half-century and Harry Tector's unbeaten 23 propel the side to collect a huge total of 177 for three wickets. Ireland made a good start after choosing to bat first, openers amassed 33 runs for the opening stand. 


Left-arm orthodox Nasum Ahmed bowled Paul Stirling for 22 runs. Then pacer Taskin Ahmed removed Andrew Balbirnie (25) and George Dockrell (9) which put the side in further peril.


On the other side, Delany was unbeaten on 21, later extended his innings to 88 runs off 50 balls with three fours and 8 sixes.
