Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Saturday announced the appointment of Rangana Herath and Ashwell Prince as the spin bowling and batting consultant respectively for the Tigers.
For now, the Herath will work with spinners till the T20 World Cup and Prince for the Zimbabwe series.
Two days after the announcement, Khaled Mahmud Sujon, vice-chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee, told the media that he did not know anything about the appointment of two coaches. On the contrary, he is not even aware that he is in this position at all.
Sujon was appointed to this post on 11 December 2017. But after almost 4 years, Sujon said, he was not called to any board meetings.
“I am the vice-chairman of cricket operations. But I know nothing. I have learned about the appointment of coaches either from you or by watching newspapers and television. No one told me,” Sujon said to the media on Monday.
Meanwhile, the ex-cricketer had recommended the board to appoint Herath as the spin bowling coach.
“Maybe I was in the bio-bubble, but I had a phone there. But I was not informed. From the news, I came to know that Ashwell Prince and Rangana Herath have been appointed. I was first to mention Herath to the BCB,” he added.
Regarding being the vice-chairman, Sujon said, "I am not sure whether I am the vice-chairman or not. Maybe I'm there for just name, I don't go to any meeting or never being called,”
“I haven't received any email in the last two years, now I get some” the former captain further added.
