Former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram said that Mohammad Amir should be included in the national squad for the T20 World Cup later this year. He also criticized the national team management and selectors for ignoring left-arm pace bowler.
Akram, who is also a member of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Cricket Committee, said “I am very surprised because Amir is a very experienced bowler and one of the best in the world in T20 cricket. Personally, I think he should be in Pakistan’s World T20 squad,”

Amir announced his retirement from international cricket last year which created a lot of buzz in the Pakistan cricket. However, Akram thinks that its Amir’s own decision and no one should take offense to that.
“Other players have done it but no one says anything about them. So why Amir? I think if he is available for other formats he should be playing for Pakistan,” he said.
Amir plays for the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), while Akram serves as the team's director and head coach. According to Akram, Pakistan team need a bowler like Amir to mentor the next generation.
Amir has not played for Pakistan since last year and has stated that he would not play for the national side until Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis, the national team's head coach and bowling coach are in charge.
