Shakib Al Hasan will be seen in the Dhaka Premier League again after 5 seasons. He was signed by Abahani's eternal rival Mohammedan Sporting Club.
The DPL was canceled after one round last March due to Corona's outburst. Shakib was serving his one-year ban when the DPL began last year and will play for Mohammedan as a fresh recruit.

Though he is scheduled to play in the Pakistan Super League starting June 1, Shakib said he is interested in playing in the Dhaka Premier League in the T20 format to avoid quarantine problems. After that, the issue of his contract in Mohammedan was published in the media.
CCDM member secretary Ali Hossain told Cricfrenzy that they have given the green signal considering all aspects. He said, “We have given the permission to Shakib. He could play for any team because he was a free player. ”
“Shakib will be able to play for Mohammedan. The application was submitted to us on the eve of Eid. At that time the office was closed for Eid holidays. We have considered all aspects and allowed him to play in the tournament," he added.
The DPL T20 tournament will start from May 31. Shakib won the title for Abahani in 2016 by taking part in the League. The left-arm spinner took 18 wickets for in 8 matches at an average of 13.77. He scored 210 runs in 8 innings at an average of 30 and a strike rate of 131.
