Despite showing dominance in the first session, the bowlers of Bangladesh had to burn in despair at the end of the day of second Test against Sri Lanka. Despite giving the first session to Bangladesh, the Sri Lankan batsmen have won the remaining two sessions of the day. On the first day of the second Test at Pallekele, Bangladesh took just one wicket against Lanka's two centuries.
That too came in the third session of the day from debutant Shoriful Islam. Tiger batting coach John Lewis was reluctant to blame the Bangladesh bowlers. The batting coach does not want to blame the bowlers for the way they have tried and said they are lucky to have five bowlers in the team.

“It is frustrating but I have some sympathy for the bowlers. Their efforts can’t be faulted. There isn’t assistant for bowling of any type. We are lucky that we have five bowlers. We made the decision in this series to use five bowlers. Looking at these surfaces so far, it has been a good decision. It is still hard,”
“The weather is debilitating. It is pretty warm out there. I am impressed with the way the guys stuck to the task, but we have a few guys quite early in their Test career, particularly the seamers. They are learning all the time, but we want to win Tests. Not learning about Test matches. But even on days like today, we can take some encouraging steps forward” said Lewis during a virtual press conference.
Sri Lanka have posted 291 runs losing one wicket at stumps on day one as Dimuth Karunaratne scored 118 runs, while Lahiru Thirimanne is unbeaten for 131 runs.
