The fifth match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) was certainly not a run-fest. But Mumbai bowlers did exceptionally well, especially Rahul Chahar who claimed a four-wicket haul and helped Mumbai win by 10 runs.

Having won the toss, KKR opted to bowl first. Their decision became fruitful as Varun Chakravarthy provided with the first breakthrough in his first over. While Suryakumar Yadav hit three boundaries off Harbhajan Singh in the next over, the bowlers soon bounced back and Mumbai could only manage 42 runs.

However, Yadav soon paced up things and smashed a few big shots off Prasidh Krishna. At the halfway mark, he brought up his fifty with a maximum. Just when he was looking dangerous, Shakib Al Hasan dismissed him. Following his dismissal, Mumbai started struggling to score in the middle and reached the three-figure mark in the 14th over.

Soon, the pace spearhead Pat Cummins ended Rohit's struggling innings for 43 and he himself finished with a stunning figure of 2/24 in his four-overs spell. Towards the end, Krunal Pandya tried to score freely with three boundaries but Andre Russell's five-wicket haul for 15 runs in his 2 overs bowled Mumbaiout for152 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

While chasing, KKR got off to a flying start with their in-form opening duo - Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill. Rana got off the mark with a boundary off Trent Boult and later smashed a six as well. Like the last game, Rana took the charge and Gill played the second fiddle until he hammered three boundaries off Jasprit Bumrah in the final over of the powerplay and put up 45 runs as well.

They soon started scoring quickly and Rana took on Pollardfor a boundary and a six in the 8th over. In the very next over, Gill smashed Rahul Chahar for a boundary and a six just before getting out for 33 as well and they posted 81 runs in the 10th over.

Last match's hero Rahul Tripathi fell very cheaply for 5 whereas the middle order too failed to step up, courtesy Rahul Chahar, who managed to pick up 4 wickets for 24in his 4-overs spell. While he has done the major damage in the KKR batting line up, other bowlers like Boult, Bumrah and Krunal did exceptionally well and gave no room to the batsmen to open their arms.

However, Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten in the middle but failed to take the team home, losing the game by 10 runs as well.
