NCL TIER 1: Nasir shines with bat and ball for Rangpur

Rangpur Division’s Nasir Hossain excelled on his return with bat and ball both on day three of National Cricket League (NCL), despite all the controversies in his personal life none could affect his performance. Rangpur Division played against Dhaka Division in BKSP. On the other hand, Sylhet Division faced Khulna Division at the Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.


Dhaka Division Vs Rangpur Division


The batsmen of Rangpur division team failed but Nasir Hossain stood in the middle of the rubble and scored a brilliant century in the first innings against Dhaka. After the century, the all-rounder also showed a glimpse of the ball. He took 4 wickets for 21 runs against Dhaka Divisional team in the second innings.


Nasir's majestic bowling spell destroyed Dhaka divisional for only 128 runs in the second innings. Arafat Hossain Jr. has scored the most 40 runs for the team. Rangpur lost 2 wickets for 35 runs on the last afternoon of the third day. Rangpur needs 229 more runs to win.

Earlier, Rangpur started the day with 194 runs for 7 wickets at BKSP. Nasir was unbeaten on 93 and Alauddin Babu on 10. However, on the morning of the third day, Alauddin could not give much company to Nasir. He returned with a personal 22 runs when the team's run was 208 on board.


Nasir was still 5 runs away from the century. After Babu's departure, the all-rounder completed his century with 220 balls. He hit 11 fours and two sixes in his important innings. In the end he stopped for 115 runs and his team was all out.


Khulna Division Vs Sylhet Division


After the follow-on against Khulna, Sylhet Division, which had risen to the first tier, turned around in the second innings. They also took the lead by avoiding the innings defeat in Zakir Hasan's century.


Sylhet lost 5 wickets for 250 runs in their second innings at Sheikh Abu Nasser Stadium on Wednesday. Their lead was 9 runs in two innings. Zakir Hasan batted brilliantly for Sylhet. He is unbeaten on 118 runs. Amit Hasan made 66 runs. Earlier, Sylhet were bowled out for 134 in the first innings by Khulna. Khulna scored 375 runs in the first innings.


Sylhet lost 6 wickets on the second day of the match on Tuesday and ended the day with 130 runs. From there they lost the remaining 2 wickets by adding only 4 runs today. Minhaj Rahman took 2 wickets for Khulna. Enamul Haque Jr. was dismissed for 30 runs. Besides Masum Khan Tutul, Minhaj Rahman also took 4 wickets for Khulna.


Sylhet did not have a good start in the second innings as they started batting from behind with 241 runs. They lost 2 wickets after adding 26 runs. After that Amit and Zakir took the helm of the team. Amit's outbreaks the pair. Amit returned with a catch behind the wicket by Moinul Hasan Sohail. He scored 66 runs before being dismissed. He made 9 boundaries and 1 six off 127 balls.


Although Amit was out, Zakir kept the other side in check. In the end, he ended the day's game unbeaten by taking the lead, avoiding an innings defeat. A brilliant innings of 118 runs next to his name. He had 14 boundaries in 193 balls. Captain Alok Kapali is unbeaten on 14 runs. For Khulna, pace bowler Abdul Halim took 2 wickets for 40 runs. Spinner Moinul Islam Sohail also took 2 wickets, while Masum Khan Tutul took 1 wicket.
