NCL TIER 1: Saif hits ton as Imrul-Tushar miss century

The 22nd edition of Bangabandhu National Cricket League (NCL) has started on Monday as Dhaka Division’s Saif Hassan got a century in the first tier match against Rangpur Division. On the other hand, Khulna Division’s Imrul Kayes and Tushar Imran have missed ton.

In the first tier, Dhaka has faced Rangpur at BKSP as Saif Hassan scored a century in the match. Saif completed his fifth century in first-class cricket with an innings of 127 off 233 balls.


However, Saif's Dhaka was in danger of losing 2 wickets for naught. Saif and Mahidul Islam's 79-run stand in the third wicket helped Dhaka to handle the initial setback. When Mahidul was dismissed for 47 off 91 balls, the pair broke up. Saif kept one end, while wickets were falling. The 69-run innings came from the bat of skipper Nadif Chowdhury.

Before Nadif was dismissed, Saif smashed his 127-run innings with 11 fours and 5 sixes. Based on Saif's century and Nadif's half-century, Dhaka lost 8 wickets for 297 runs at the end of the day.

Rangpur's Alauddin Babu took 4 wickets for 25 runs. Besides, Mahmudul Islam 2 and Suhrawadi Shuvo and Mukidul Islam took one wicket each.

Khulna Division Vs Sylhet Division

Sylhet has faced host Khulna in the first tier match at Khulna Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium. Khulna lost 7 wickets at the end of the first day and scored 308 runs. Imrul Kayes missed a century for 10 runs. The left-arm batsman has scored 90 runs off 127 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes.

Tushar Imran, who has scored the most runs for the country in first-class cricket, were more unfortunate as Khulna batsman was run out short of 1 run from the milestone, Tushar scored 99 runs off 117 balls.

Among Sylhet bowlers, Abu Zayed Rahi and Ebadot Hossain took two wickets each. Besides, Khaled Ahmed and Enamul Haque Jr. took one wicket each.
