Dhaka Premier League (DPL) is finally returning to the field as the domestic event is starting anew from May 6. Although the format is changing. This year's DPL will be held in T20 format, for a preparation of the upcoming T20 World Cup.
This was confirmed by CCDM chairman Kazi Enam Ahmed while talking to media on Sunday. This time the tournament will be in two parts.
“We have decided to re-launch it and that is the date we get the window on May 6. At that time we will be able to start the league. It is a very difficult situation because we have very little time because we have 6 days in two windows and for now we have 15 days. Maybe 3 more days can be added so we have to do the tournament” said Enam.

DPL was suspended after a round because of the coronavirus pandemic in March last year. The cricketers have repeatedly demanded the start of the DPL but the BCB has not been able to start the domestic tournament.
However, it has decided to cancel the one round match played last year. A few days ago, the organization of DPL got some momentum with the initiative of BCB. CCDM officials and others concerned sat in the meeting last Tuesday to decide these matters
The Premier League has previously had a tournament in the T20 format with Super League teams. However, this time the league is completely new. This tournament organized with 12 clubs, will be super league format and will have relegation, said the chairman of CCDM. “It will be a complete league. There will be a super league in this league, there will also be relegation”.
