The National Cricket League (NCL) is set to begin from the third week of March. Test skipper Mominul Haque told Cricfrenzy that he would at least play two rounds of NCL before the Sri Lanka series.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) successfully organized domestic ODIs and T20 tournaments after a long break due to the corona pandemic. This year's NCL will be held in four venues across the country, BCB decided to vaccinate the players before the tournament takes place.

The Test captain said that he’ll take off for Sri Lanka after playing at least two rounds. Muminul said “I would play in the national league before going to Sri Lanka. I hope I can play two rounds.”

Mominul wants to prepare for the upcoming Sri Lanka series with the NCL. He had the opportunity to play 3 matches in the 2019 National League. However, the batsman scored only 93 runs in 5 innings without any fifty. In 2018, he scored 282 runs in 4 matches with one century and in 2017 season he scored 29 runs in only one match.

The national team cricketers would get the opportunity to play the first round of the NCL after returning from the New Zealand series. Chief selector Minhazul Abedin Nannu said their game has not yet been confirmed.

"Actually, it’s not clear yet when they would return. They also need some rest. But if there is a chance, they can play the first round but it is not sure yet," he told Cricfrenzy.

Bangladesh is scheduled to leave the country on April 12 to play a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. At the end of this series, the Lankans will visit Bangladesh on March 20 to play ODI series.
