Shakib thrills to back in KKR

Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has returned to his old team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the all-rounder has returned to Kolkata Knight Riders. Shakib, who was thrilled to be back for the franchise. The all-rounder said he can’t wait to play for Kolkata.


The base price of Shakib in this auction was INR 2 crore. KKR and Punjab Kings have fought a couple of rounds to lure this all-rounder in their team. However, the Kings could not cope with the KKR and bagged the all-rounder for INR 3 crore 20 lakh.


"Of course, it is thrilling to be able to play for Kolkata again. The biggest thing is to stay close to home. I don't know where the IPL match will be this time. Possibly, in Mumbai, outside the country in the United Arab Emirates or in India as before. It would be best if the game would be played in Kolkata, I will be there most of the time. Not too far from Bangladesh and everyone speaks the same language, all known people. It's a very fun place for me.” Shakib said during a live session with an ice-cream production company.

Shakib became a two-time champion with the team. The all-rounder said that the Kolkata team is very strong at present. He wants to perform for the team again like the previous seasons. However, the Tiger all-rounder also reminded that the game for Kolkata won’t be easy.


"It's definitely a new challenge; it’s a very good team indeed. There must be a hunger to get a good result from there. I think I've become a two-time champion with the team. I have been with the team twice, I have played two finals. So I will try to perform again. I think the KKR team is much better. So being able to play will be much more challenging. But after all, it is much more exciting to be able to return to Kolkata.”


He also gave a video message on the Kolkata page,"I am very excited to be able to play for KKR. We will try to achieve the same results as we did together in 2012 and 2014. I can’t wait to play for Kolkata.”


Shakib has previously played for Kolkata and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. He has won the title twice. He won the IPL title for KKR in the 2012 and 2014 seasons. Shakib last played for Sunrisers in 2019.


Sunrisers then dropped him before the 2020 IPL due to a one-year ban. After two seasons, he returned to the IPL. So far, the all-rounder has scored 746 runs in 63 matches, also bagged 59 wickets with economy rate 7.46.
