Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has entered the auction for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) slated to be held on February 18 in Chennai. The base price has been set at INR 1 crore for the player. Mushfiqur has been placed in the auction since the inaugural edition, however never could become part of any team.

After having found no buyers in the past 13 seasons of the IPL, former Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim had opted out of auctions for the IPL 2021. However, he made a late entry and it was confirmed to Cricfrenzy by Mushfiqur's manager Barshan Kabir.

Regarding the late entry in the auction of Mushfiqur, his manager said, "The IPL authorities had asked Mushfiqur Rahim to reconsider his decision as he did not want to name him in the first instance. Already four names including Shakib Al Hasan have been sent by then. Mushfiqur sent his name in an e-mail at the end. That is why Mushfiqur is showing a late entry.”

Apart from Mushfiqur, four other Bangladesh cricketers are also up for auction. They are Shakib, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mohammad Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman.

The former Bangladesh skipper has a formidable T20 record, Mushfiqur has been part of the Tigers’ T20 team since his debut in 2006. In 86 T20Is, the right-handed batsman has scored 1,282 runs at an average of 20.03 with the strike-rate of 120.03 respectively. He also made five half-centuries for the team.
