Bangladesh off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz has adjusted Man of the Match as he achieved the best bowling figure of his career in the second ODI against West Indies. He took 4 wickets for the second time against Windies. The right-arm spinner spent 25 runs for 4 wickets with an economy of 2.59 to sink the Caribbeans.

Apart from one wicket in the first ODI against Windies, the off-spinner took only six wickets in the last 10 ODIs, five of which were wicketless. However, the 23-year-old cricketer matched himself as soon as he got his favorite team.

I didn't bowl well in the last match.  I turned out well in this match.  It is the result of discussions with the team management and experienced cricketers.” Miraz said after the match.

Neither Miraz nor the Bangladeshi spinners had the opportunity to work with bowling coach Daniel Vettori for about 9 months due to Corona. Although cricket returned to the country during this pandemic period, Miraz did not get close to Vettori. However, he has revised the lessons from Vettori with the help of country coach Sohail Islam.

The experienced campaigner didn’t forget to praise his senior players and current spin bowling coach, who helped him to find his rhythm.

“I’ve bowled three overs or more in short spells.  Discussed with Riyad Bhai [Mahmudullah] and our current spin bowling coach. Tamim Bhai [Tamim Iqbal] is an experienced man, we played together in BPL. He has always supported me. We had our national spin coach Vettori but he couldn’t work with us properly for corona time or so. But our personal coach was Sohail Sir, we all worked with him. In particular, I have worked personally with him.” he added

Miraz has taken 17 wickets in 12 ODIs against the West Indies so far. The spinner, who has taken 90 wickets in 22 Tests, has taken 25 wickets against the visitors. He has taken 15 wickets in 2 Tests in the home soil.

Bangladesh is leading the series with two wins and will play the final ODI match in Chattogram on January 25.
