Soumya eyes to contribute with the ball

Cumilla Warriors batsman Soumya Sarkar said on Sunday that he is enjoying his bowling as it gives him an opportunity to contribute for the team even if he fails with the willow.
The left-handed opener picked quite a few wickets in the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League with his gentle right-arm medium pace.

‘’I am enjoying the bowling and getting some wicket as well. I try to understand batsman mentality and try to bowl from that point of view,’’ Soumya told reporters on Sunday.

‘’I am enjoying my bowling because if I only bat normally and if I failed in batting than I feel I had a bad day but if I bowl there is some hope that I can contribute for the team,’’ he said adding that he takes full responsibility for failing with the bat.

‘’I take full responsibility for not doing well with the bat. I have scored 5 and 6 in last two innings where as I should have scored more runs. I have scored 30 or 40 runs in some matches that I should have converted into bigger ones,’’ he said.
Soumya added that they are not thinking too far ahead and only taking one game at a time. Warriors won four games and if they managed to win the three games they have the chance to go beyond the group stage.
‘’We have three more games and if we think of winning three matches it will be tough. We need to win the next match. Then we should focus on winning the next match,’’ said Soumya.
‘’If we could win all the three matches than we had a good chance,’’ he said adding they are not thinking too much,’’ he said.
‘’We will do better despite losing some of our members of the squad]. Tharanga played last match and had done well,’’ said Soumya.
‘’We cannot think like we have lost our balance because of losing some of members like Malan,’’ he said.
