BCB called BPL franchises for next cycle

Bangladesh Cricket Board called franchises of Bangladesh Premier League for the next cycle of the tournament, scheduled to begin from December 6.
BPL governing council sent email to different franchises for a formal meeting with them discussing different agenda’s of the upcoming cycle.
BPL GC on Sunday said that they will send letters to the franchises within 48 hours as they have they have decided to go for renewal upon mutual understanding with the existing franchises.
If any of the existing franchises decides to discontinue in the tournament, the BPL will seek new expression of interest for those many teams.
On August 18 BPL GC will sit with Khulna Titans and Rangpur Riders while on the following day they are expected to hold talks with Dhaka Dynamites and Rajshahi Kings.
Comilla Victorians will sit with the BPL governing council on August 20 while on the same day Sylhet Sixers is expected to hold talks with BPL governing council but as per sources their BPL GC will not sit with them regarding their participation in the next BPL rather just to inform them on clearing the dues of their players as only after completing that under a specific time frame they are expected to be eligible to take part in the next cycle of BPL.
Chittagong Viking had already informed BCB that they will not take part in BPL and BCB had given advertisement for expression of interest for Chittagong Vikings as well as for a new franchise as they are planning to start the tournament with eight teams for the upcoming cycle.
‘’We have received email from BCB to sit with them and we are looking forward to it,’’ a franchise owner confirmed Cricfrenzy.
With the conclusion of the 6th edition of BPL T20, which was held in 2019, the first cycle of the tournament is now considered complete, which also marks the expiry of the tenure of the franchisee agreements with the respective right holders.
‘’In these circumstances, as per clause 3.1 of the franchise agreements executed between the BCB and the Franchises, with the view to renew the said agreements, the BPL Governing Council will send out immediate invitations the Teams that had participated in the 6th edition for of BPL T20 (2019) for a discussion on the issue of renewal of the Franchise Agreement and execution of a fresh contract subject to mutually agreeable terms and conditions,’’ BPL governing council representative Mahbub Anam told reporters regarding taking this sudden move that was cleared by a press release sent by BCB later that stated BPL Governing Council has decided that the duration/tenure of the second cycle of the BPL T20 will be for a further period of four (04) editions/seasons, i.e. 7th , 8th, 9th & 10th edition/season.
