Bangladesh Cricket Board selector Habibul Bashar on Saturday slammed Bangladesh A’ team members after their humiliating 10 wicket defeat to Afghanistan A’ on their first unofficial ODI match at Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Friday.
Afghan A’ outplayed Bangladesh A side seeing off their 202 targets keeping their all wickets in hand while Bangladesh side set that target losing eight wickets

“The way they batted, it looked like it was not a competitive match. They do not understand what will be the consequences are if they do not take it seriously. If they continue doing this, we will have to try with a new batch. It’s not like we don’t have any other option rather than them.”
After making a 52 runs partnership in first wicket, the Bangladesh A’ side started losing wickets on regular basis. Afif Hossain the only Bangladeshi batsman who scored a fifty (59) and Farhad Reza scored 30 runs in lower order, who last played his ODI match for Bangladesh in 2011.
But BCB consigned the team, with several current national team players like Imrul Kayes, Mohammad Mithun, Sabbir Rahman, Abu Jayeed, Mehedi Hasan and others.
And Bashar’s frustration reflected in his statement as he can’t digest their defeat to Afghanistan A’ being a Test playing nation for a long period of time.
“I do not understand what I should say. A Test playing nation’s A team would play this level of bad cricket, I could never imagine that. All those 11 players played with the national side. And four of them are containing members of national team. Five or six of them played Test cricket. Still they lost to the Afghanistan A”
