Dhoni-inspired Mashrafe not embarrassed with retirement talk

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza who is ruled out of the Sri Lanka tour said he is not embarrassed with the continuous retirement talk as he is motivated by former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
While Mashrafe had to face the volley of the question regarding his retirement just for some months, Dhoni continued facing this for the last two years.
Mashrafe’s retirement issue actually gained the momentum following his ordinary performance in the World Cup in which he took just one wicket in eight matches.
He however played the tournament through the hamstring injury that eventually ruled him out of the Sri Lanka tour.
Hours before it was confirmed that he was ruled out, he however again talked about his retirement issue in a pre-tour press conference for the Sri Lanka series.
“To be honest I am not embarrassed and I am not disappointed [with this retirement talk],” he said on Friday.
“Everyone has the right to do his work. And you people will consider the things I do. You will consider it in your own way. So you will ask this question [which is natural.”
“Let me talk about Mahendra Singh Dhoni. I am not the player of his standard. He has over 10000 runs in his career. But even he had to face this question regularly in the press conference. So I think this matter should be seen in professionally. I also see this way.”
“I am clear in my point. I can’t give my best in the World Cup as a player. In fact I can’t perform well. I can’t give my best as a captain well. Everyone expected us to move into the semifinal but we were unable to do this. So it is natural the question will be raised. I have taken it normally and I am not in a position to think about it more.”
