Bangladesh inspirational skipper Mashrafe Mortaza might end his 18-year long international career at Lord’s, popularly known as the Mecca of Cricket, as Tigers take on Pakistan in their last group-stage match of ICC World Cup 2019 today.
The speculation of Mashrafe’s retirement has been the talk of the town lately since he failed to deliver in the ongoing cricket mega event picking only one wicket from seven matches so far. While he failed to bowl out his allotted ten overs in most of the matches. During the match against India, Mashrafe ended his first spell after bowling for just one over indicating his lack of confidence on his own ability.
It was learnt that Mashrafe has sat with the four senior most cricketers namely Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad during the last team meeting and discussed his retirement plans.

Following their snub at the hands India, calls for Mashrafe’s retirement grew louder as overwhelming chatter in the social media have apparently forced Mashrafe to rethink his retirement plans who earlier had stated that he would like to continue cricket well beyond ICC World Cup 2019.

There is wide spread speculations that if Tigers are able to end their ICC World Cup 2019 campaign on a high note by defeating Pakistan that might prompt Mashrafe to call it a day. But if it’s not the case, Mashrafe might return for a farewell match to end a career which has been nothing short of fairytale.
