Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is hoping that talismanic all-rounder Shakib al Hasan will end the World Cup on a high note as he leaving no stone unturned to excel in the showpiece event.

Bangladesh needs to win both the matches of their group phase respectively against India and Pakistan to make a claim for the semi-final spot though that is largely dependent on the outcome of some other result as well.

If Bangladesh want to progress beyond the group stage than they need Shakib to perform as they have nothing but to thank him as his success so far is considered to be the by-product of Shakib for his exquisite form throughout the tournament that saw them be in a position they are in at the moment.

“Still two matches left and we are hoping that he'll keep doing whatever he has done and finish on a good note,’’ Mashrafee told reporters on Monday ahead of their do-or-die match against India.

‘’Shakib, I think, he's been doing whatever he can do. I mean, he's been doing everything on his batting, on his fielding, on his bowling. He's done everything that he could have done. To be honest, he's been the best performer, to me, and for my team, I think he's been the best performer in this World Cup,” he said.

Shakib is one of the front runners in the player of the tournament race as he proved his mettle throughout the tournament.

Shakib is currently third in the top run-getters’ list with 476 runs to his name at a staggering 95.20 average while he has so far scalped 10 wickets in the mega event.
