Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has stated that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) obtained what they desired by not granting NOC for the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the Test match against Ireland.

BCB included Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das in the 14-man squad for the one-off Test against Ireland, despite their application for NOC to play in the IPL.

BCB president Nazmul Hassan had previously suggested that there would be no change in their stance regarding the players' IPL clearance.

Shakib explained that the BCB informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of their availability, and they obtained the NOC as per the board's requirement.

"The board informed the BCCI of the timespan of our availability. They said at that time that they wouldn't allow us to play the IPL when there are international games. So we got the NOC just the way the board wanted," Shakib said.

Shakib also mentioned that fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman would have been required to stay back if he was part of the Test team.

"If Mustafizur was part of the Test team, he had to stay back. Fortunately or unfortunately, he is not part of the team and could leave early," he added.

The one-off Test match between Bangladesh and Ireland is scheduled to take place from April 4.
