Kolkata Knight Riders are waiting for their Bangladesh stars Shakib al Hasan and Litton Das to join the camp for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), which will start on March 31.

KKR’s newly appointed head Chandrakant Pandit confirmed in a press conference that the Tiger duo is always in touch with the team even though they are busy with Ireland series.

“We are regularly contacting with them [Shakib-Litton], they will join the camp soon. Even if they are not with the team physically, they are with us mentally. Hope to get them soon, they are playing [International Series] at the moment” said Pandit, when he was asked what will be the combination sans Shakib and Litton.

However, while it is common for teams to release their players for IPL matches during international tours, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has chosen not to take that path.

The national cricket board has made it clear that international commitments come first, and players won't be released for IPL games if they conflict.

Bangladesh are currently playing three-match T20I series against the Irish, where the Tigers have won the first match and will play the next two games on March 29th and 31st.

Stand-in captain Nitish Rana led KKR will play their first game against Punjab Kings on 1st April but Bangladesh has a Test match against Ireland starting from 4 April. Therefore, it has been confirmed that Shakib and Litton may not be granted No Objection Certificates (NOC) to play in the IPL.

Meanwhile, Some Indian media outlets have reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may shadow-ban Bangladeshi players from the IPL auction in the future, in response to Bangladesh's decision not to release players for IPL matches.

However, neither the BCCI nor any IPL team has confirmed the veracity of these reports.
