Bangladesh U-19 thrash Zimbabwe by 155 runs

Bangladesh U-19 crushed Zimbabwe U-19 by 155 runs (D/L method) in U-19 Men’s CWC warm-up match at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts, West Indies.

In chase of 256 runs, Zimbabwe didn’t start on solid ground when opener Panashe Taruvinga went for a duck. The next man in Steven Saul, launched a counter-attack, scoring 39 from 45 deliveries, but once he outside edged to Fahim his team were in deep trouble.

They continued to lose wickets in quick successions and were eventually bowled out for 110 runs.

Naimur Rahman bagged three and Ariful Islam and Abdullah al Mamun took a couple of wickets each for Bangladesh.

Opting to bat first, Bangladesh posted a decent total of 277, particularly after a tricky start when opener Iftakher Hossain edged to slip in the third over departing for just 1.

Then Aich Mollah got his side back on track, making 82 from 82 deliveries with three sixes.

Wicketkeeper Md Fahim also scored 33 runs, before captain Rakibul Hasan went after the Zimbabwe attack, hitting 36 before being run-out.

Late stager Ripon Mondol played stormy innings of 39 from 26 balls to take the 2020 champions up to their final total. However, it was reduced to 256 due to D/L Method.
