Bangladesh have placed in Group 1 alongside Sri Lanka, England, the West Indies, South Africa, and Australia after finishing second in Group B in the first round. The group is largely made up of non-Asian teams that aren't well-prepared to play spin.

All of Bangladesh's main round matches will start around 2 pm local time (4 p.m. BDST), which Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo is pleased with.

"We are happy with the 2pm starts. It suits us big time. It takes dew out of the equation. I think our spinners will come very much into the competition. We know a lot of the other teams are focused on the dew,” said Domingo in a pre-match press conference Saturday.

Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in Sharjah, which has a slower pitch than the other two venues. On this ground, Bangladesh will also meet the West Indies. Bangladesh has a strong spin attack and Mustafizur Rahman, who bowls a lot of cutters and slowers, will relish bowling on dry surfaces in Sharjah.

Tigers head coach remarked that Sharjah condition and wicket are very much similar to Dhaka, which will be an advantage for Bangladesh.

“These type of conditions can suit us. Sharjah is similar to the wickets in Dhaka. Hopefully that can assist us in tomorrow’s [Sunday] game,”

The two sides have already played a Test and an ODI series this year, and Bangladesh are aware of Sri Lanka's white-ball capabilities despite having won the ODI series 2-1 at home.

"I think we have played against Sri Lanka a bit over the last couple of months. We have had some good contests against them in ODIs and Tests. We have a well-balanced side with skilful bowlers and some dangerous batters. We have a world-class allrounder in Shakib [Al Hasan]” he added.
