Bangladesh are all set to return in International Test cricket with a series against the West Indies in January. In this series, Jon Lewis will be seen as Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal’s batting coach. This English Man will reach Dhaka tomorrow (7th January) to join the Bangladesh Team. Akram Khan, the Chairperson of the BCB’s cricket operations committee has confirmed the news to Cricfrenzy.

In August 2020, Neil Mckenzie had stepped down as Tiger’s batting coach due to family issues. After his departure, former New Zealand Batsman Craig McMillan was appointed by the BCB as the batting consultant for three-match Test Series against the Sri Lankan Cricket Team.

Although he left the job before he took the responsibility, the former Batting Coach of Kiwi didn’t come to Bangladesh showing the reason of his father’s demise. Since then, Bangladesh team have been playing without a Batting Coach. However, this time BCB has filled this absence by appointing Jon Lewis.

Despite having the new batting coach, Tigers wouldn’t get the service of their bowling coach Daniel Vettori. Due to COVID-19 he won’t be leaving New Zealand to join the Tigers. But he will continue to advise the team from New Zealand. However, he is scheduled to join the team on New Zealand tour.

Amid this situation, BCB coach Sohel Islam will be the spin bowling coach for the series against the West Indies. He is currently working with the Under-19 team. He was last seen as the head coach of Fortune Barishal in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup as well.

The preparatory camp of the National team will begin on 10th January. Prior to that, Head Coach Russel Domingo, Bowling Coach Otis Gibson and Fielding Coach Rayan Cook will be coming to Bangladesh on 8th January. On the other hand, trainer Julian Celafote and Physio Nicholas Trevor Lee have already arrived in Dhaka yesterday (5th January).
