Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Mike Hussey has stated that Mustafizur Rahman's bowling is proving to be highly effective in the death overs during the ongoing IPL.

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings picked up their second straight win in the IPL with a thumping 63-run triumph over last year’s finalists Gujarat Titans on Tuesday.

Mustafizur took two wickets against Gujarat which helped him earn the Purple Cap at the end of the game.

After his expensive start, he came back strongly when he bowled two of the final four overs where he scalped Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia, and gave away eight runs, finishing with two wickets for 30 in his four overs.

“Our entire focus is now on death bowling. It was important to get Pathirana back. I think the same goes for Mustafiz as well. He has delivered in the first two matches. As a left-arm pacer, he is a fantastic option for us. His slower balls are quite good. When he bowls in the death overs, he keeps a cool head even under pressure. I think at this moment, it is working for us. We have a good option for death bowling now. It is very important for us," said Hussey.

Mustafizur Rahman single-handedly crushed Royal Challengers Bangalore by taking 4 wickets in the first match in Chennai, dismissing Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Cameron Green, and Rajat Patidar.

Former New Zealand and Mumbai Indians bowler Mitchell McClenaghan believes if Mustafizur Rahman can continue his bowling prowess he will one of the best bowler of the tournament.

“Theekshana's return to the eleven is difficult with the type of wicket I see. Mustafiz seemed to be in a good rhythm from the few slower ones he bowled towards the end of the innings. He was getting good support from the wicket too, if he continues like this he will be one of the best bowlers of the tournament,” said McClenaghan.
