Skipper Rihad Khan struck a fluent century to help Bangladesh Under-16 team to an advantageous position at the close on the day one of the 2nd three-day match against Pakistan at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on Monday.

Rihad Khan almost single-handedly led from the front slamming an unbeaten 120 ball-136 as Bangladesh U-16 piled up 292 before being all out.

However local bowlers responded reducing Pakistan U-16 to 20-2 before the bails were drawn for the day to leave the visitors on a spot of bother.

Rihad Khan’s shone with the willow to notch a superb century as hosts were at precariously staggering at 119-5. Skipper counterattacked in impeccable way to take Bangladesh at the relatively at a safer zone. His 136 not out was studded with delightful fours and five eye catching sixes.

Opener Mofizul Islam Robin was the other notable batsman to support Rihad with a defiant 53. Maksudur Rahman made 31 while Aich Mollah contributed 30.

New ball bowler Aseer Mughal was the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan with 4-38 while Ali Asfand supported him with 3-50.

Bangladesh bowlers too played their part as they made early inroads, taking two wickets of Pakistan inside eight overs to leave them 20-2, which ruined the visitors’ hope to end the day unscathed.

At stumps, opener Sameer Saqib was batting on 2 with Haseebullah yet to open his account.

Bangladesh Under-16 leads the two-match three-day series with 1-0 after beating their counterpart by five wickets in the first match.
