Introduced for the first time last year in Sylhet, the tournament was well-received for its competitive spirit and smooth organization. Following its successful debut, the BCB is now preparing for the second edition of the event, responding to the players’ interest in seeing the tournament continue.
BCB’s Chief Coordinator of Programs, Minhajul Abedin Nannu, confirmed the development while speaking to the media on Saturday.
“Last year the tournament was organized on short notice. This time, three venues have been shortlisted. The tournament committee has requested the grounds committee for access to these venues, and preparations are underway accordingly,” said Nannu.
While the official fixture is yet to be published, the tournament is tentatively scheduled to begin on 15 September, with the final expected to be played on 4 October. Nannu added, “The NCL T20 is expected to start in the second week of September.”
As with the inaugural edition, eight teams representing the eight divisions of Bangladesh will participate in the tournament.
Notably, the NCL T20 received first-class status from the International Cricket Council (ICC) last year. The tournament serves as a key platform for local cricketers to showcase and test their skills ahead of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
