After a good outing in the Bangladesh Premier League, Abul Hasan Raju has been selected in the 16-man squad that is set to face Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in the tri-nation series. And according to him, it is all about proving himself.

Indeed, the pacer lauded Waqar Younis and was astounded with the fact that he got to learn from the former king of pacers.

“The Bangladesh Premier League was actually a challenge for me to come here [to the national team]. Waqar Younis was in our [BPL] team [as a mentor]. I found it unbelievable that I go to learn from someone like Waqar bhai.

“I personally feel that I worked a lot with Waqar bhai on developing my reverse swing and slower ones. I am confident and it is time to prove myself here [for the national team]. Proving myself is the most important thing. “

Raju had played for national team before, but couldn’t take a single wicket in his 6 games with the Tigers. And now, he believes that he can change that as he is a different bowler to what he was before.

“I am confident [that I will finally get wicket in ODIs are 6 wicketless games]. Actually I was a little different before and I will try to prove myself if given the chance.”

Abul Hasan scored a century on his debut innings in Test against West Indies to become the second player ever to score a ton whilst batting at number 10.
