Ben Stokes’ unavailability due to a hamstring problem earned Sam Curran a Test debut for England in their second Test against Pakistan on June 1. Stokes was also in doubt for England’s upcoming ODIs as his scan report revealed a tear in his left hamstring.

England Cricket Board (ECB) has recently confirmed that the all-rounder will miss the one-off ODI against Scotland and will also miss the “first part” of the five-ODI series against Australia this month.

“England all-rounder Ben Stokes will miss the ODI against Scotland in Edinburgh and will be unavailable for the first part of the five-match Royal London ODI series against Australia as he recovers from a left hamstring tear,” said an ECB statement.

“He will continue his rehabilitation program and will return to his county side Durham on Monday,” it added.

Dawid Malan will replace the 26-year-old in England’s squad for the Scotland match. On the other hand, Sam Curran has once again been drafted in as a replacement for Stokes ahead of England’s ODI-series against the Aussies.
