According to the Times Of India, the Glazer family, which owns and manages Manchester United, the world's most popular football team, has expressed interest in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Through a private equity firm, the US-based owners of the English Premier League's marquee team have apparently picked up the Invitation To Tender published by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

The owners of United, according to the Times of India, are keeping a close eye on events in the world's most valuable T20 tournament.

There are several tight conditions in the BCCI's ITT, which calls for closed bids to be filed in the last week of October.

For example, to be eligible to bid, potential bidders must have an average turnover of Rs 3,000 crore or a personal net worth of Rs 2,500 crore.

However, the BCCI recently modified the average turnover provision after certain possible bidders requested that the figure be reduced in order to meet the eligibility criteria.

As per BCCI's last statement, Wednesday, October 20 was the deadline to pick up the tender documents available at a price of Rs 10 lac.
