23 arrested for IPL online gambling

Twenty-three people have been arrested for involving in online cricket betting during IPL matches in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Cyberabad police busted IPL cricket betting racket and seized over 93 Lakhs in cash and five cars including BMW. Based on the information that betting was on in seven places under Cyberabad on Tuesday said Police Commissioner M Stephen Raveendra.
Police said they have seized from the bookies betting boards, laptops mobile devices and other materials worth Rs. 2.21 lakh and 93 lakh in cash.

‘’The illegal cash payment transactions of Cricket betting is online, and also in cash when it is a large amount. The network of bookies has trapped many youths in the city had got addicted to playing high stakes thereby losing large sums of hard-earned money,’’ said CP Cyberabad Stephen Ravindra.
Police said the odds/ratings of gamblers/punters can be seen from time to time in some online betting apps, which are provided by the agents.
Illegal cash payment transactions are online, and in cash even when it is a huge amount, he said.
Police also said the bookies’ network has implicated many youths of the city, who have become accustomed to playing high bets and are losing hard-earned money.
