BCCI urges ICC to not recognise KPL tournament

Since the talks of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) began to circulate, a lot has happened. With only four days until the event begins, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has requested that the International Cricket Council (ICC) not recognize it.
Shahid Afridi, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, and others will captain their respective teams in the championship, which begins on August 6.
The issue, according to the BCCI complaint, revolves around Kashmir's status as a disputed territory since 1947. The two neighboring countries have been at odds over Kashmir, and both governments have sovereignty over portions of the territory.
The two sides have also been involved in a number of conflicts, which has further added to their political strife. This has resulted in no bilateral series between the two cricket-crazed nations since 2013.
However, the BCCI is concerned about the foreign players who have signed up for the league, claiming that international players make the competition more than simply a domestic event and give it international validity.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had previously criticized the BCCI for allegedly threatening foreign players participating in the KPL. Herschelle Gibbs, a former South African cricketer, had also slammed the Indian board.
Through conversations with several boards, the BCCI has made it clear that these players would be considered rebels and would be treated by them as would the participants of any unrecognised league.
